Stonewall Bar Association of Georgia Forms New Judicial Section

September 26, 2019 — The Stonewall Bar Association of Georgia has formed a new Judicial Section. 

Georgia’s new Stonewall Judicial Section started with eight judges and grew to eleven within a week of their first meeting on September 25th.

The Stonewall Bar Association Judicial Section will be an affiliate of the International Association of LGBTQ+ Judges, and will work on judicial education programs concerning sexual orientation and gender identity for the entire Georgia judiciary as well as mentoring programs for LGBTQ law students. 

Georgia is the fourth state to form an organized statewide LGBTQ judges’ association. We are very excited to work with the new Stonewall Bar Association Judicial Section and see it grow and succeed. Welcome, everyone! 

Attendees at the inaugural meeting included Judge Jane Barwick of the Fulton County Superior Court, Judge Bert Gregory, a Municipal Court Judge for several cities in Southwest Georgia, Judge Jane Morrison of the Fulton County State Court, Judge Christine Koehler of the DeKalb County Magistrate Court, Judge Christopher Yokom of the Fulton County Juvenile Court, Judge Angela Duncan of the Gwinnett County Magistrate Court, and Judge Mike Jacobs of the DeKalb County State Court. 

Also in attendance were Chief Judge David Crosby of the Brooks County Magistrate Court, Judge Alexandra Manning of the Fulton County Magistrate Court, Judge Phyllis Williams of the DeKalb County Magistrate Court, and Judge Shannon McNeal of the DeKalb County Magistrate Court.
