Honorable Stuart Katz
The Honorable Stuart P. Katz (1956–2026) was a retired Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, known for his dedication to juvenile justice and public service. Before his judicial appointment in 2007, he served for nearly 23 years as a dedicated public defender in Cook County. As a judge, he spent the majority of his career in the Juvenile Justice Division, where he pioneered innovative restorative justice programs and non-custodial sentences for youth. A respected advocate for legal reform and LGBTQ+ representation on the bench, his impactful career earned him the prestigious Founders Award from the Alliance of Illinois Judges.
